Anyone who has ever taken the GRE/GMAT will relate hard. Idioms are a group of words established by usage as having a meaning not deducible from those of the individual words. Basically what you see is not what you get. (e.g., rain 🌧 cats 🐈 and 🐕 , see the light 💡). Hidden in them are gems of wisdom, ideas, values, principles if the said culture or society. Idioms are rarely ever complete sentences. They are often “figurative” and better understood if they are imagined pictorially.
So, to ‘kill time’ i doodled 40 common idioms. Hope i didn’t try to ‘bite off 🦷 more than i could chew’, for it certainly wasn’t ‘a piece of cake’ 🍰 Would like a penny for your thoughts and hope i don’t have to go back to the drawing board. I hope i hit the nail on the head, but i definitely don’t want to be counting my chickens before they hatch, or put all my eggs in one basket and i hope you don’t judge the book by its cover. Even if i didn’t blow your pants off, I suppose there is no point crying over split milk and we can cross the bridge when we get to it. Either way the ball is in your court and i suppose in life there is always a silver lining.
Enough idioms, on to the doodles now.
